How can I order a recycling container?
You can order recycling containers (green boxes, blue bags, food waste bins and kitchen caddies) online. Please go to Order a container.
You can also visit one of our Recycling Centres to pick up a container if you need one quickly. Please go to Recycling Centres for opening hours and locations.
When will my container be delivered?
Your recycling container should be delivered within 30 days. If you have not received it by then please report it to Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41, quoting the reference number of your original order.
How to report a missed recycling collection
Please go to our Report It section to report your missed recycling collection. You will need to report it by 5.30pm on the following working day if you wish us to return.

How has my rubbish collection changed?
From 6 November 2017 we will collect your rubbish every other week in either a Council wheeled bin or re-usable rubbish bag. Your recycling will continue to be every week and your garden waste will continue to be every other week. Please go to Recycling and Rubbish Changes to find out more.
How often is my rubbish collected?
We collect rubbish every other week in Council allocated wheeled bins or re-usable rubbish bags (there are a few exceptions to this in some areas). Your rubbish must be presented at the front edge of your property by 7am on your collection day. How do I know what container to use for my rubbish?
You will have been given a Council wheeled bin or re-usable rubbish bag to contain your waste. We will not collect from other containers. You can check which container has been allocated to your property by going to Services in My Area. Households with 6 or more people or with 2 or more children in full-time nappies or with a clear medical need may be able to apply for a larger bin. You need to be recycling all you can before you apply for a larger bin.
How do I order a replacement container?
If your bin has been stolen or vandalised, please report it to Council Connect (firstname.lastname@example.org 01225 39 40 41). We will replace it for free on the first occasion. Subsequent losses or damage will occur a charge unless it is caused by the collection process or wear and tear during the 10 year life of the bin.
What do I do if I move house?
If you move house, you must leave your bin/bag at your old property. The bin belongs to the Council and must remain at the property it was allocated to except if you have been allocated a larger bin. If you have been issued a larger bin you must take this with you as it is the correct bin for you rather than your old property. Please contact Council Connect to let us know your new address where your larger bin will be.
How to report a missed rubbish collection?
Please go to our Report It section to report your missed collection. This will help us to make sure we collect it next time. Please note we do not return for missed rubbish collections unless you have an assisted collection. If there is an access issue (such as parked car blocking the road) or a road closure then we will try and return later in the day.
Please make sure you only put your rubbish in your Council wheeled bin or re-useable rubbish bag, and make sure it’s available from 7am at the front edge of your property. Your bin lid or bag must be fully closed for us to collect. We will not take additional bags of rubbish that are not in a wheeled bin or re-usable rubbish bag. How to report a missed clinical waste collection
Please go to our Report It section to report your missed clinical waste collection or call Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41. They will then re-book a collection for your next scheduled collection day. Please note we do not return for missed clinical collections due to restrictions regarding the storage of clinical waste.

How do I sign up for the garden waste service?
Please call Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or visit our One Stop Shops (Civic Centre, Keynsham, Lewis house, Bath, The Hollies, Midsomer Norton). They will help to arrange your service and take your payment. Please have your payment card details ready when you call or email firstname.lastname@example.org
I’ve signed up for a garden waste collection, when will my bin be delivered?
Please allow 28 days for delivery. If your bin does not arrive within that time please let us know by calling Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41, quoting the reference number from your original order.
Why is garden waste collection stopping over the winter (December – March)?
During the winter, we collect significantly less material, (an average of 240 tonnes per month compared to 650 tonnes collected during peak growing season)
It is considered inefficient to keep sending five trucks out to collect over a third less material.
The garden waste collection vehicles travels on average 1,900 miles between them each week for the fortnightly collection. We considered the environmental effects of carrying out collection during winter months with limited gain.
Stopping collections for the 12 week period (December-March) enables us to save:
- 22,7000 miles of unnecessary driving
- Approximately 20,000 litres of associated fuel, with significant environmental benefits.
I already use the garden waste collection service - when will my garden waste renewal letter arrive?
We send out garden waste renewal letters in April. If your letter does not arrive by the beginning of May please contact us. Call Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email email@example.com
I have paid for the renewal of my garden waste service for this year but my sticker has not arrived
Please allow three weeks from when we receive your payment. If your sticker has not arrived after three weeks please call Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41.
I’ve forgotten to pay for my renewal of the garden waste service. What should I do?
Please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 to arrange payment. Please have your payment card details ready when you call. We will not be able to guarantee your sticker will arrive before your next collection day. We will not collect your garden waste until you have a valid sticker displayed on your bin.
How to report a missed garden waste collection
Please go to our Report It section to report your missed garden waste collection. You will need to report it by 5.30pm on the following working day if you wish us to return. We will return within 5 working days. Please note in cases of extreme weather it may be necessary to halt collections of garden waste (whilst we prioritise collections of household rubbish) in such circumstances we would not return to collect garden waste or issue a refund for the missed collections.
Why has my collection been missed?
If we have not collected some/all of your rubbish /recycling on your correct collection day, please check the following
1. Was your waste/recycling in the right container?
- Recycling – green recycling box, blue cardboard recycling bag, black food waste bin
- Rubbish – Council wheeled bin or re-usable rubbish bags with the lid/bag fully closed and no extra bags of rubbish
- Garden waste – Council wheeled bin or prepaid Council sack that was not overfilled or split.
- Clinical waste – in a sharps box or yellow clinical waste sack that was not overfull or split
2. Did you put out something that we don’t collect?
Please make sure that you did not put out something that we don’t collect. Go to Recycling and Rubbish Collections and check the relevant collection page under Our Collection Services to find out what you can put out.
3. Was your rubbish/recycling put out at the right time and in the right place?
Please make sure you put your waste out at the front edge of your property by 7am on your collection day, or your agreed collection point if you have an assisted collection.
4. Has it definitely been missed?
If it is before 3pm, please check if your neighbours’ waste has been collected because we do not always collect at the same time each week.
How should I report a missed collection?
Please go to Report It and fill in the appropriate online form. This will help make sure we collect your waste next time. We will return to collect recycling and garden waste and assisted collections (except in cases of extreme weather, where we will keep our website up-to-date with on this) or issue a refund for the missed garden waste collection.
What if my whole street has been missed?
If your whole street has been missed please go to Current collection problems to see if we are aware of the problem. If your street is not on our list for today please report it to us by completing our Report it form.
