family with a disabled child

The Information & Advice Service for Special Educational Needs, Disability & Additional Needs is available to families with a child or young person up to the age of 25 with additional needs, a special educational need or disability (SEND).  It provides individual appointments at a range of venues in your local area.  There are also drop-in sessions in some Children's Centres and visits to existing groups. To book an appointment with the Information & Advice Officer for SEND please contact 01225 394382.  All enquiries will be dealt with in strict confidence and the advice given will be impartial.

The Rainbow Resource Scheme is available for children and young people aged between 0-25 years with additional needs, a special educational need or disability (SEND) and who are resident in Bath & North East Somerset.  By registering your child or young person's details you will receive a small card which may entitle you to reduced or free admission to some leisure venues and attractions.  The Rainbow Resource Scheme database holds basic information about your child or young person including name, contact details, age and diagnosis.  This information is held securely by Bath & North East Somerset Council and can only be accessed by authorised staff and complies with data protection.  Inclusion on the list is voluntary.

The Rainbow Resource is our searchable local offer where you will find information about local services, activities and support for families with a child or young person with additional needs, a special educational need or disability, plus an events calendar telling you what's going on in the local area and a Blog which will give you up to date information.

For more information please contact Kath Fallon, Information and Advice Officer (SEND and Additional Needs) on 07530 263070 or email Kath_Fallon@bathnes.gov.uk

Your local Children’s Centre also runs parent support groups and play sessions so you and your child can play, learn and develop together.  They also have outreach workers who can work with you and your child to access appointments and within your home to support your child’s health, wellbeing and development. See your local Children’s Centre page for more details.
